Sound Meditation (often called ‘Sound Healing’) is, for many people, their deepest experience of meditation. Harmonic, soothing sounds can awaken states of clarity that are often challenging to find on your own.

Although nothing can match the transcendent power of live performance, these high quality recordings and streams can bring you into that space of peace and clarity. Plus, they can be there at your exact moment of need.

At the start or end of your day, you can use these tools to find release and awakening— to lay down in savasana and go on inner meditative journey. You can also use them for a short seated meditation, or to compliment a yoga practice. Pro tip— sound meditation recordings can quell anxiety as background noise while you’re working. Here are some sounds to save you during the quarantine period (and likely afterwards, as well).

H(om)e: A Sound Meditation Journey

Sound Meditation Presents is moving our rich and resonant experiences online. We’re offering a monthly journey called H(om)e — a high fidelity audio experience that captures the soothing power of the harmonic instruments we use. Our offering features a seamless flow of binaural beat crystal bowls, Paiste gongs, Native American flute, monochord, and more, played by Guy Douglas with Raven Grace. Our next sound meditation event is on May 16th. We plan to transition to a sound meditation video on demand platform soon.

The Sound Healing Symphony

We’re proud of our latest sound meditation and sound healing recording of ‘The Sound Healing Symphony’ at Grace Cathedral, conducted by Guy Douglas and featuring Russell Feingold, Alisa Healy, Simona Asinovski, Xenia Giolli and Mark Clifford and mixed by Jesse Mills. This was the last experience we got to create for our community before the quarantine began, and is one of our favorite memories.

Offerings from some of our favorite sound healers

Attunements: A Sound Healing Journey

We’re extremely proud of Athene Eisenhardt for creating a beautiful album with flute, didgeridoo and so much more. Athene is a multi-talented healer who practices acupuncture, sound meditation, and so much more. Her new album, Attunements, is up on Spotify now.

Bodhi Setchko

Bodhi has recently hosted 21 days of livestreams from his page ‘Bodhi Music’. Bodhi is the creator of “Soundscape Oasis”, and plays the flute wonderfully! His music is also available on Bandcamp.

Arula

Arula is a stronghold in the Bay Area community and regularly hosts virtual events featuring live music, movement practices, and vocal activation experiences. She embodies the full spectrum of sonic expression as a singer-songwriter, sound-healer, electronic music producer, & movement guide. Her offerings are diverse and expressive. Find some of Arula’s music and offerings here.

Russell Feingold

Russell Feingold is a teacher, a musician and guide– and a key member of The Sound Healing Symphony. Heartfelt devotion is at the center of his spiritual path and the journey he walks with others. He’s an incredible didgeridoo and flute player, and he just released his first solo

flute album, “Savor Eternity”.

Anastasia Gera

At first glance, Anastasia’s videos seem simple- just one person with a singing bowl. Give it some time, and you’ll feel the incredible, angelic and deep sound that this woman creates. At some point, it seemed like a didgeridoo was playing! Anastasia’s sound healing videos are available here.

Grace Miralia

Grace Miralia offers guided meditation and sound baths, and has created a group to share them during quarantine. She has a focus for each practice, be it peace and protection, or clarity and confidence, to give you a quick pick-me-up.

Greg Papania

Greg Papania plays crystal bowls, chimes, and analog synthesizers all tuned to 432 Hz — creating a tapestry of mesmerizing electronic sounds with organic undertones. Several of his livestream sets are available on demand here.

Loriel Starr

Loriel’s offerings are not available online (yet), but her beautiful Sound Mandala Experience is a stronghold in the Bay. We miss playing “The Sound Healing Symphony” with you, and look forward to when we can enjoy this incredible practitioner’s offerings.

Viral Counterpoint of the Coronavirus Spike Protein

This last one is for all you nerds out there — someone created music based on the amino acid sequence and structure of the spike protein of the pathogen of COVID-19. Here’s more info about it. Musician and engineer Markus Buehler and his colleagues at MIT have assigned each protein and structural form a musical equivalent. The result, generated by artificial intelligence, is a surprisingly soothing musical score that Professor Buehler said revealed detail that microscopes couldn’t. This is not sound healing, but it’s soothing and worth checking out.

In this period of transition and adjustment, it can be difficult to envision taking part in enriching sound meditation practices without being able to leave your home. This has been a difficult transition for us as well. Though nothing can recreate the magic of converging in masses, we can still connect to ourselves and the world at large in a profound and meaningful way. We’ve found so much reassurance and hope in seeing so many of our musicians make their offerings available digitally at this time. We hope these resources will help provide you with a sense of calm, ease, and peace.

You can learn more about sound meditation and sound healing at Sound Meditation Presents.
